Yes, its that time of year again, when mistletoe is hung carefully above the door, and the scent of cedar and poinsettias fill the crisp winter air. The sounds of children gleefully opening their presents....
... another generation of livestock to the feed bucket of capitalism is born.
...it is that time of year that we get to see all of our relatives that we have nothing in common with other than a bloodlust for uncomfortable and agonizing reunions....but enough about the cheerier aspects of Christmas....
Let us take this time to reflect on the the true nature of Christ's birth.
Not born in a manger but rather a cave, Jesus, the Son of sons, a divine messenger he was, and he lent himself to his Holy mission of salvation and self-sacrifice. It is very lonely at the top, just ask Kanye West. This Jesus, a man centuries if not millenia before his time, mingled with the prostitues, the murderers, the theives, and the poorest of the poor. No disease was too hideous or frightening. When you personify God's compassion, you have no fear of infection, just love for all things, and a rememberence of this worlds transcient nature.
This winter solstice, the time when our nights reach its longest, only for the days to grow longer henseforth, is a holy time in the history of man. Originally, these times meant struggle, simply trying to survive winters might. Now that man has conquered the elements, it has become a time of excess, overindulgence, and commercial chintsy fakery. We have lost touch with the original meaning of Christmas.
The true reason of Christmas is to come together with one another in communion. To GIVE, not necessarily physical trinkets, but your time to those who truly are in need of it. The fellowship of man under our Lord and savior.
Merry Christmas to all of you...Season's greetings from FM2012. May God's grace find you this holiday season, and a bucket of cheer fill your stocking.
Merry Christmas Felson!
