Turning this Failboat into Something Positive

Ok so why are you here.  Well, chances are you are here mistakenly, and if that is the case, I apologize profoundly.  However, I encourage you to stick around while I take this time to inform you of a wonderful way to give back to the community AND get a nice little tax write-off.

I am doing what I should have done a long time ago and I am taking this blogsite over.  It is a coup, if you will.  Vive la resistance!  Or something like that.

Here are some of the things that must happen.

1. Charities must have some value to the community, whether local or worldwide.  FM2012 wants to effect the world, but will focus its efforts on the local community and its needs primarily.  By making Greenfield a better place, we can make the world a better place.  I would like to see proceeds go to local food banks, underfunded school programs, and local law enforcement.
2.  Decide to go non-profit.  This will ensure that any money handled by FM2012 will be transparent to the IRS as well as the donors.
3. Create a mission statement.  I will draft a couple of these and post them as they are ready.  We will keep things democratic.
4. Create Articles of Incorporation.  These will be drafted and posted as well.  Hopefully we can generate some traffic to the site and have a poll to determine which draft is used.  What the Articles of Incorporation are for exactly is to specify the goals of the charity.
5. Create bylaws.  See 3 and 4.  Bylaws determine how the non-profit is governed.
6. File an application with the State Secretary.  This will require doing lots of paperwork.  I am up to the challenge.
7. Procure Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN). This will allow the IRS to follow our paperwork.
8. Apply for charitable status with IRS.
9. Set up Board of Directors.  No imaginary people will be allowed on the Board.
10. Advertise.  In a sense, we are already doing this.
11. Raise MONEY!  Come on, what did you think this was really all about?

So you can see there is a lot going on right now.  Like I said, I want to focus our efforts on the community, in particular on programs that will improve the quality of life for Greenfield residents, with a special emphasis on underprivelaged individuals and children.

Now, how can YOU be involved?  Communicate with me.  My address is adam.honnold@hotmail.com .  Or you can write to my associate (emphasis on ass), Felson Mitchell, at felson.mitchell@gmail.com .  I encourage you to become part of the story, whether that be as a donor, a possible board member, or just stop in every now and then and offer some encouragement.
Thank you for your time, and have a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

Adam H.
