Well its the Adam Honnold show again on FM2012, so that means more talking about science, primarily quantum physics, astronomy, cosmology, and chaos theory.
Today we want to talk a little about the fusion reactor in my own back yard. (next to the satellite that crashed earlier this year).
Yes, I have harnessed all of the free energy I want, and can literally power the entire earth for millions of years, absolutely no cost.
You see, in order for the hydrogen atoms to fuse together, they must be heated to 15 million degrees. This is very difficult to do, but it happens every day, right here. Because the atoms have such strong resistance to one another, it is very tricky getting the nuclei to stick to one another. Only when gravity is so great, due to huge mass, can the nuclear forces be overcome to make the hydrogen atoms combine into a new helium atom. Since the mass of the helium atom is less than that of the two hydrogen atoms, some of the matter has been converted into pure energy.
The only method we can conceive of that is more efficient in creating energy is matter-antimatter annihilation, and possibly zero point energy. This is what we are working on now, right here at FM2012.
In case you didn't know, I was talking about our sun earlier. Of course I don't have my own fusion reactor. But scientists in England have created fusion. The only problem is trying to harness these powers without blowing up the city in the process.
Felson is pouting in his office right now. Maybe if he just went outside and enjoyed the sun he would feel better. Gotta get that vitamin D, right ladies? Jokes aside, have a blessed afternoon.
